About AppointAuto

AppointAuto is a free directory of auto service shops in the United States: smog check stations, tire shops, repair and body shops, car washes, detailing and more. It helps drivers find a nearby shop, compare it with others around it, and call or get directions. Using it needs no account, and shops cannot pay for a better position.

Where the listings come from

• Business names, addresses, phone numbers and websites come from the openly licensed Overture Maps Places data.
• In California, New York and Pennsylvania, listings are matched to state license records (the Bureau of Automotive Repair, the New York DMV and PennDOT), so you can see whether a shop holds an active license and since when.
• For many shops, opening hours, prices and services are read from the shop's own website, and each one links to the page it came from.
• Shop websites are checked automatically, and a website that no longer works is removed from the listing.

How shops are ordered

Shops are ordered only by things anyone can check: an active state license, a listed phone number, a working website, and how many independent sources agree on the listing. No shop is marked down, and no shop can pay to move up.

What we never do

• We do not invent ratings, reviews or prices. Reviews stay on Google and Yelp, and we link to them.
• We do not guess opening hours or prices: they appear only when the shop's own website lists them. Call before you go.
• We do not sell your personal information. See the privacy policy.

The guides and answers explain smog checks, tires and repairs in plain language, with links to the official sources they are based on (California BAR, DMV, CARB, NHTSA and others).

For shop owners

Every listing page has a free "Claim this listing" link to keep the phone number, website and services right. Wrong details or want a listing removed? Use the removal and correction page; we answer within 5 business days.
