# टायर और कार की देखभाल: अमेरिका में पहला साल

अमेरिका में दाम तय नहीं होते: हर शॉप अपनी कीमत रखती है, इसलिए दो-तीन शॉप पर फ़ोन करके टैक्स और फ़ीस सहित कुल कीमत पूछें। हर महीने टायर का प्रेशर जाँचें (सही प्रेशर ड्राइवर के दरवाज़े के स्टिकर पर लिखा है), लगभग हर 5,000–7,500 मील पर टायर रोटेट करवाएँ, और ग्रिप 2/32 इंच रह जाए तो टायर बदलें (बारिश के लिए 4/32 पर बदलना सुरक्षित है)। ऑयल चेंज आपकी कार की मैनुअल के हिसाब से करवाएँ, अक्सर 5,000–10,000 मील पर।

## टायर में कील लग जाए तो

अगर कील टायर के बीच वाले हिस्से (tread) में है और ¼ इंच से छोटी है, तो आमतौर पर अंदर से patch-plug से मरम्मत हो जाती है। साइडवॉल पर लगी कील या बड़ा छेद हो तो टायर बदलना पड़ता है। टायर फ़्लैट होकर चलाया गया हो तो भी मरम्मत नहीं होती।
